If an unexplained oral lesion, sore, irritation, red or white patch, or firm area in the mouth has not healed within two weeks, it should be assessed by a qualified healthcare professional.

Signs and Symptoms

Possible signs of oral cancer include:

Persistent ulcer

Firm area along the tongue or oral tissues

Ongoing tongue, jaw, or throat discomfort

Unexplained bleeding

Difficulty swallowing

Red (erythroplakia) or white (leukoplakia) patch
